Kurtis 'Joe' D. Tolzien

Kurtis "Joe" D. Tolzien, 82, of Stevensville, Mont., passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Mont.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joe was born Aug. 19, 1938, at FMDH in Glasgow, to Lawrence "Pete" and Marion (Davison) Tolzien. He received his early education in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School.

He married Mary Sue Getschel, on Jan. 22, 1972, in Great Falls, Mont., and made their home there until 1983, where they then moved to Scobey. They spend 30 years there before spending the last seven years in Stevensville to be closer to their son and his family.

He was a US Army veteran who loved hunting, fishing and self-proclaimed tinkering. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who didn't consider him one of their very best friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; two sisters, Rosemary and Dorothy; and two infant siblings

Survivors include his wife Mary Sue; son Travis (wife Michelle); three grandchildren, Skyler Tolzien, Kayla Camden and Derek Crowe; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as an abundance of extended family.
