Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The eleventh annual Mow ‘Em Short golf tournament was held July 25 at Sunnyside Golf and Country Club. A record 32 teams signed up to compete in this year’s event, filling up the available slots a mere days before the tourney.
A mix of locals and out-of-towners hit the greens in an attempt to win the many hole prizes and swing for a $500 hole-in-one prize, which unfortunately went unclaimed. Under a bright blue sky and after 27 holes of golf, Out-of-towners Tony Kindle and Gordon Webb drew the first place gross spot with a score of 101 while Glasgow Marc and Deb Swanson claimed first place net at 95.72. Club manager Andy Newton called it “a competitive but fun tournament.”
Shelley Hopfauf and Jake Hughes claimed second place gross with a score of 112. Ed Buechler and Cory Shelhamer scored 113 for the third place gross finish while Ed Hopfauf and Josh Reynolds rounded out the top four with a score of 116.
Shawn Bergstrom and Sam Tedrow were the second place net finishers with 99.92. The grandfather-grandson duo of Rod Archambeault and Blaine Myrick scored 101.84 for the third place net slot. Coming in fourth place in net scores were Calvin Kemmis and Judy Waters who put 102.52 on the scoreboard.
