Making Toast

Deciding to have toast with our coffee the other morning, we put the bread in, pushed down the lever and went to the coffee pot. In a very short time we heard and saw SPARKS flying from the toaster.

A trip to town or a visit to Amazon was in order. Not having the incentive to do either at the moment, I put the toaster out of my mind. Several days later I was feeling hungry for breakfast toast. Oh, no toaster!

It was then that I was reminded that I did have a toaster buried somewhere in my treasures. I do remember the toaster sitting on the drop leaf table that sat in my grandparents’ kitchen.

I dug it out of the trunk, gleefully took it out to the kitchen and plugged it in. I had a very nicely browned slice of toast. Yes, one slice.

How many of you remember a one slice toaster? And the timer switch worked so nicely, even when not plugged in. I decided that the reason my toast was browned so nicely was because the elements were close to the bread allowing for an even browning.

This toaster has made toast for us now for about a week. What I planned on finding was a toaster that had sides that dropped down so you could place your bread next to the elements. I do believe that would toast two slices at a time. Although I was disappointed not to find the two slicer, both hubby and I have had fun playing with our NEW TO US TOASTER.
