Anita Raye Steiner

Anita Raye Steiner, age 84, of Fort Peck, Mont., passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, in Great Falls, Mont.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday July 5, at Highland Cemetery, located in Glasgow, Mont. Anita's brother-in-law, Dave Cooper, will preside over the memorial service.

Anita Steiner was born in Piggott, Ark., to Almarita Bell and Marvin Hartwell on Jan. 12, 1936. She went to school in Piggott until she was 16 years old, at which time she relocated to Scobey, Mont., where she graduated from high school.

She married Vernon H. Steiner on July 5, 1955, in Glentana, Mont. She worked at the Sears Catalog Store for many years and then retired after working 17 years at the Clerk and Recorders Office located in Glasgow. After retirement she spent some time with her hobby creating oil paintings. In 1982, her husband Vernon began building a cabin at Fort Peck Lake where they both lived together until Vernon passed away in August of 2012. After Vernon passed away, Anita spent the remaining years of her life in her cabin by the lake with her dog ,Winston.

Anita Steiner is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon H. Steiner.

She is survived by one daughter, Rita (Steiner) Hamilton, one son, Allan and Debra Steiner; two sisters, Mary Ann (Richard) Vance and Jeri (Dave) Cooper; one grandson, Christopher Steiner; two step grandsons, Eric Riggs and Jason Riggs; one great-grandson, Gage Steiner; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
