19U Hockey Finish Regular Season

Head to State This Weekend

The 19U Glasgow Ice Dawgs were in Salmon Feb. 14-16 for the end of their regular season games. Head coach Paul Provencher was proud of his girls, saying it was one of the best weekends the team has had all season.

Scores for the Friday night game were unavailable at press time, but Saturday saw the Dawgs split their games.

In a game against Havre, Glasgow fell by a final score of 3-2. The Ice Hawks took a 2-0 lead in the first period on 14 shots on goal. Waging a comeback in the second period, the Dawgs put up two goals of their own, firing 11 shots. Kimber Dulaney struck first for Glasgow, putting the Dawgs on the scoreboard with 3:46 before intermission. Just two seconds later, Tori Pehlke tied the game with an assist from Ava Lloyd.

Unfortunately for Glasgow, Havre staged their own comeback in the third period, putting 12 shots on Dawgs’ goalie Elizabeth Nyquist, compared to Glasgow’s eight attempts. Havre converted on one of their shots with 11:30 left in the game and held on to the lead for the remainder of the period.

The Dawgs put up 29 shots in the game, compared to Havre’s 36 attempts to get past Nyquist. Mayme Collins served two minutes in the first period for a slashing infraction and Shanice Lagerquist sat for two minutes on a hooking call in the second.

That afternoon, Glasgow faced off against Salmon and released their frustrations from the previous game. The Dawgs held Salmon to a single goal in the third period while racking up 12 goals on their side of the scoreboard.

In the first period, Glasgow put the puck in the net five times. Kylie Lagerquist started the scoring streak with 12:04 on the clock. Pehlke made it 2-0 at 10:23. A power-play goal from S. Lagerquist came at 4:09. S. Lagerquist added another goal with an assist from K. Lagerquist less than a minute later and K. Lagerquist closed out the first period scoring with 1:08 left.

Glasgow added three more goals in the second period. Collins netted a goal with help from Tatum Provencher, before Pehlke added her second goal of the game on a power play. K. Lagerquist found the back of the net for a hat trick with 3:33 left before intermission.

K. Lagerquist added a second hat trick in the third period as the Dawgs put up another four goals. Dulaney also put the puck in the net in the decisive win. Provencher and S. Lagerquist each assisted on a goal from K. Lagerquist. Nyquist faced 21 shots in the 12-1 victory and the Dawgs’ offense put 40 pucks on the net in the game.

On Sunday morning, Glasgow and Salmon faced off again. The Dawgs took a 6-1 win, outshooting their hosts 31-26 in the game.

K. Lagerquist led the Dawgs, putting up four goals and an assist in the game. Pehlke assisted on K. Lagerquist’s first goal of two in the first period. She netted the hat trick goal in the second and kicked off the third period scoring at 11:52. Just over a minute later in the final period, she assisted on Provencher’s goal. Pehlke lit the lamp for the final goal of the game at 8:18.

S. Lagerquist served time in the first period for tripping and Collins sat for two minutes in the second for slashing.

The 19U Ice Dawgs will be in Bozeman Friday, Feb. 28, through Sunday, March 1, for the MAHA State Tournament.
