The Nashua Porcupines hosted the Frazer Bearcubs on Jan. 10. The boys' side saw a victory, winning 58 to 36 however the girls' side saw a loss 43-35.
The girls' game saw lots of back and forth action, keeping the point spread close throughout the first half and even into the third quarter of the second half. The Lady Porcupines secured 14 points in the first half, compared to the Bearcubs' 16 points, and due to Porcupine Tia Dees' four two-pointers and a free-throw made by Devin Fromdahl in the third quarter, they were able to keep securing the lead. However in the fourth quarter, the Bearcubs found their rhythm and the hoop, scoring 20 points, due to three-pointers by Kaylandra St. Marks and Chandalyann Smoker and two-pointers by Kaydin Sibley and St. Marks. The Lady Porcupines couldn't regain the point spread, even after many free-throw attempts, only sinking four of the 17 attempts. Top scorers for the Porcupines included Dees with 20 points, and Devin Fromdahl and Hadynn Adkins with six each. Top scorers for the Bearcubs included St. Marks with 19 points and Sibley with 12 points.
The boys' side saw dominant action in the first half, scoring 15 points in the first quarter and 17 points in the second quarter, compared to the Bearcubs' total 17 points between the two quarters. Toby Glasoe's three-pointer in the first quarter and many two-pointers by Mack Winchester and Ethan Viste in the second quarter established the lead early on. The second half didn't see any improvement in the point spread, with the Porcupines scoring 16 points in the third quarter, assisted by Nashua's Fletcher Clampitt three two-pointers, Viste sinking two two-pointers and Winchester and Glasoe each sinking one two-pointer each. The fourth quarter saw the Porcupines securing 10 points, due to two-pointers by Winchester, Caden Laumeyer, Dillon Yoss and Clampitt. Frazer secured three-pointers, courtesy of Keein Ackermann, in the fourth quarter to try and gain back the point spread however could not keep up with Nashua's defense. Top scorers for the Porcupines included Mack Winchester with 15 points and Ethan Viste with 11 points, while the Bearcubs saw Keein Ackerman put up 22 points followed by John Hotomanie's nine.
The following day on Jan. 11, the Porcupines traveled to Circle, where the boys lost 68-48 and the girls lost 65-37.
Nashua will travel to Scobey on Friday, Jan. 17 while Frazer will travel to Dodson and then to Saco on Jan. 18.
