Scottie Speech Team Claims First in Malta

The Glasgow Scottie Speech and Drama teams traveled to Malta on Dec. 14 for that school's speech and drama meet. The Scottie Speech team reclaimed their position on the top of the team point scores after being short handed in Fort Benton the week prior, costing them a shot at claiming any meet team placement.

In Fort Benton on Dec. 7 the Scotties took 16 competitors and placed two at the top of their respective competitions. Leading the team was Isabelle Griffin, who claimed first in dramatic solo, and Ian Wright, who claimed first in dramatic oral interpretation. In Malta, the same two led the team with Isabelle Griffin claiming first in humourous solos and Ian Wright claiming first in dramatic oral interpretation.

Discussing the meet in Fort Benton, head coach Jodi Griffin said, "Unfortunately we didn't take a sweeps bling this weekend. The kids all did great, though, and we are very proud of them." She added that it was, "Good meet but some good competition and a few missing members hurt our points. The kids had fun."

In Malta the outcome was once again in the Scotties' favor with the speech team again on the top of the Class B team results. "It was a good meet, even though we were missing a few kids," said Griffin, " We still took speech sweeps."
