They Did the Monster Dash

The Glasgow Recreation Department's annual Monster Dash race took place Nov. 2 at Sullivan Park. While the number of participants may have been down a bit this year, the enthusiasm was not.

Runners and walkers were decked out in costumes galore, from clowns to racers to Peter Pan characters to those who seemed to jump a holiday ahead in Grinch and Cindy Lou Who outfits, hit the 1.5 mile course for a crisp workout and a chance to win prizes.

Those costumes may have served more than a decorative purpose, providing many with an additional layer to combat the low early November temperatures. However at least a few (looking at you Grinch) may have overdressed for early November. Runners crossed the finish line to cheers offered up by fans and Recreation Department employees as they clocked the times.

To no one's surprise, young cross country runner Eli Feezell took the over all first place finish, knocking out the distance in 9:55. Tyrus Hartwell and Stevie Hartwell rounded out the top three with times of 11:44.9 and 12:25.3, respectively.
