Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Beats Sidney in Three Matches
In an effort to keep their undefeated regular play record, the Lady Scotties traveled to Sidney on Oct. 3 and added another win to their record, defeating Sidney in three matches, 25-16, 25-10, 25-20. This win brings their overall record for the year in regular match play to 6 and a goose egg.
The Lady Scotties certainly brought it to the court, only missing one serve the entire night. "I can see our practices are really helping with the pressure serving situations I try to put them in," explained coach Somer Hoerster. According to Hoerster, junior Rachelle Glaser put up great sets and ran a fast-paced offense, while the defense had nice digs and blocks, which all contributed to the win. Senior Laura Ross led in kills and played a smart game as a middle blocker and outside hitter, matching up well against the taller Sidney players. Throughout the matches, the Scotties stayed in control and never gave up, even when at times they were down in points.
The team and coaching staff are enjoying having an undefeated regular play record this far into the season. "We are really enjoying being undefeated in regular play so far," stated coach Hoerster. "We have been discussing our goals basically since the season ended last year and what we wanted from this year. To see all of the girls hard work come out in their play and scores, it is a testament to how driven this group is."
After the Lady Scotties played Fairview on Oct. 8, they will hit the road to Poplar on Thursday, Sept. 10, with C/JV/V action starting at 4 p.m. The Lady Scotties will then host their annual Pink Night on home court on Saturday, Oct. 12, with C-Squad action starting at 1 p.m. followed by JV and V.
