Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Charles M Russell Community Working Group would like to capture the events leading up to, during, and after the 2017 Lodgepole Complex fires, showing the positive that came of such a negative. Our panel believes that in order to grow as a community, we need to identify areas of improvement while acknowledging our past efforts. The CMR Community Working Group invites you to attend our Thursday, July 18, meeting in the Fort Peck Interpretive Center starting at 10 a.m.
The 2017 Lodgepole Complex Fires were a multi-faceted effort that had profound impacts on the communities it reached. Hundreds were involved in fighting the fires including landowners, local firefighters, counties and county officials, DNRC, BLM, CMR NWR, and the surrounding communities. All can attest that collaboration and coordination were required.
The July 18 Charles M Russell Community Working Group meeting will feature a panel of the stakeholders from the Lodgepole Fires. In order to become more resilient, we should share the stories of those involved to learn from their experiences. The goal of this panel and this meeting is to help prepare communities with the knowledge, support, and efficiency for a more unified approach to combat disasters.
