Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
While Valley County is known to be generous, last week’s radio-a-thon for the Friends of the Pool campaign shattered expectations. The event raised $92,953 including matches, bringing the total amount of funds to $425,978. The Friends have plans for fundraising events and grant applications to continue to build on this initial success. A statement from the committee said, “The success of the event was humbling and overwhelming.”
Donations came from across Valley County, from Billings, and even Minnesota. Individuals, businesses, and organizations contributed to the effort to continue providing a safe and fun service for the county. Twenty-three anonymous donors also contributed. Plans for the new pool include an ADA-compliant zero depth entry, off street drop-off loop with handicapped parking, a 30’ x 94’ pool house to include concessions, a family changing room, and one park-accessible restroom. The six-lane, 25-meter pool will be located in Hoyt Park, just east of the current pool’s location.
Video tours of the pool and current information on fundraising and efforts can be found on the committee’s Facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/pg/valcopool or their website, http://www.valcopool.com.
