Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Wes Urbaniak and the Mountain Folk made their debut in Glasgow at the Busted Knuckle Brewery on May 8 as part of their Montana Pint O'Beer Run Tour. Urbaniak and his musical partner Mat Regele are traveling the state, making a total of 15 stops at independent craft breweries. Starting the tour at the Beaver Creek Brewing brewery in Wibaux on May 4, Glasgow was their third stop of the tour.
"It was really nice driving into Glasgow. It's very clean!," said Urbaniak. Urbaniak is a musician out of Huntley, Mont., and decided to put together the tour as a way to showcase his love for his home state of Montana, his love for music, his love for breweries and his love for communities. "What could we do that combines all our Montana-ness into one program? Go on tour!" stated Urbaniak.
Urbaniak and Regele utilized hand-made instruments, including a guitar and bass, made of repurposed or salvaged wood and traditional pieces. Each instrument played has a unique story and character which fit into the theme of the evening. In between sets, Urbaniak and Regele asked those in attendance to share their brewery stories. The stories shared throughout the tour will be a part of a story podcast episode titled "Montana Brewery Stories" including film shots of the road, towns and breweries on tour.
The band's "unofficial brewery manager" Scott Wagers, brought the Busted Knuckle to Urbaniak's attention to add to the tour as Wagers visits the brewery every chance he gets. "I work in Billings, but I'm in the area quite frequently for work. The Busted Knuckle is my favorite brewery in Montana," stated Wagers. "We understand we are the try out band for the Busted Knuckle," laughed Urbaniak.
Connie Boreson, co-owner of the Busted Knuckle, along with her husband, Ben, have always wanted to bring music entertainment to the brewery, but couldn't believe the fees associated with bringing in bands who play covers. "They [Wes Urbaniak and the Mountain Folk] play their own songs, and they were really excited about being here. They are our inaugural band!" said Connie.
If you missed your chance to see Urbaniak and Regele in Glasgow, other stops on their tour include Eureak, Columbia Falls, Cut Bank, Bigfork, Phillipsburg, Helena, Big Sky and Billings. More information regarding tour dates and Urbaniak's music can be found at wesurbaniak.com.
