Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Dawson County Red Devils squashed a sizeable Scottie lead to defeat Glasgow in their first softball game of the 2019 season.
The Lady Scotties hosted Glendive at Jeff Jurgens Field on March 26, and took control of the game early on, scoring four runs in the first inning alone and amassing 10 runs by the bottom of the third inning.
Going into the final inning of the contest, confidence was likely high for Glasgow. They boasted a nine-run lead at the top of the sixth inning and allowed the Lady Red Devils to score just one run before closing the inning.
Glendive turned everything upside-down in the seventh inning, however, scoring 11 runs to steal the win.
Contributing to the Lady Scottie's still-impressive score were:
Devon Johnson with one single off one hit in four plate appearances; Lylie Foster with two singles and one triple that brought in three runs in four at-bats; Aurora Chappell with three singles and one double for one RBI in her five showings at the plate; Madison Collingsworth with two single RBIs off two hits in five at-bats; Laura Ross with a two-RBI double off one hit in three at-bats; and Meranda Bechel with a single off one hit in two at-bats.
Chappell was on the mound for the game and recorded seven strike-outs. The Lady Scotties are scheduled to play in Glendive on Thursday, April 4 at 4 p.m. and in Colstrip on Saturday, April 6, with games scheduled at noon and 2 p.m.
