Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Glasgow Elks will be hosting an open house tonight, Wednesday, March 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by to learn more about the Elks and what they do for the community. Members will be available to answer questions for anyone interested in joining the organization.
Zak Peterson, board member of the local lodge, stresses new members are free to determine their level of involvement. “I know many people in town are involved in so many groups and so giving of their time elsewhere, they don’t want to join anything else,” he says, continuing, “But if they join and don’t want to be at every meeting or involved in every event, that is fine. Just joining and paying dues helps us out immensely.”
Member dues are $77.50 annually with a one-time $50 initiation fee for brand new members, which includes a steak dinner for the new member and a guest on Initiation Night. Glasgow boasts the seventh largest membership of the 27 lodges in Montana. Peterson says the majority of dues stay local and go towards expenses such as the building mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurance, etc.
Anyone interested in joining, but unable to attend the open house, should contact Peterson at 406-230-2867 or [email protected].
