Fifth Annual Slam the Dam

The Fort Peck Senior Citizens are sponsoring the fifth annual fun walk/run, “Slam the Dam 5 (Run with the Wind)” across the face of Fort Peck Dam on Saturday, March 16. Registration starts at 9 a.m., with the cost being $5 per person. The event is for all ages, however bikes or dogs are not welcome. Students under the age of 18 must have a parent sign the registration/release form.

Every year we have had a great turnout—even last year when it was foggy and cold to start. Our goal this year is to have 100 participants. Will you join us?

The event is a non-competitive walk/run—no times will be kept. The walk/run is approximately four miles with drivers available if a participant only wants to do part of the event. At the end of the walk/run, drivers will also be available to drive you back to your vehicle.

On the morning of March 16, the committee members will decide which direction the walk/run will go—depending on which way the wind is blowing that day. That means that hopefully the wind will be at your back, if at all.

Watch for signs as you arrive or listen to the radio to see from which side of the dam the walk/run will begin. Port-a-potties/bathrooms will be available at the beginning, midway, and end. Water and fruit will also be provided.

No pre-registration is required, however if you would like to pre-register, you can do so at the Fort Peck Credit Union in Fort Peck or Glasgow or the Fort Peck Town Office.

Proceeds from the event will benefit senior citizens’ projects. Supplemental funding is being provided by Thrivent Financial.
