Scottie Boys and Girls Split Games vs. North Country and Sidney

The Scottie boys and girls basketball teams finished the week with some good, solid games against the North Country Mavericks and the Sidney Eagles. The Scotties were on the road to Saco Jan. 18 for non-conference games against the always-tough Mavericks. The Scottie boys earned a win against North Country, 51-42. The top scorer for Glasgow was Kobe Sibley with 14 points, followed by Chevy Boos with 12. For North Country, Loden Idler and Ty Murphy shared the top spot, with each scoring 10 points in the contest.

The Lady Mavericks won their game against the Lady Scotties at the free-throw line where they scored 30 of their 47 total points. Kia Wasson finished as the top scorer for North Country with 16 points, followed by Jaycee Erickson with 15. For Glasgow, Laura Ross led at the hoop with 12 points. In their attempt to deny the Lady Mavs at the bucket, the Glasgow girsl racked up 29 fouls with Keely Fossum, Tehya Campbell and Rachelle Glaser all reaching the maximum of five in the contest.

The following evening, Jan. 19, Glasgow hosted Sidney for Super Hero Night at GHS. In a reversal of the games in Saco, the Lady Scotties defeated the Lady Eagles, 54-46, while the boys dropped their game against the Eagles, 51-47. Fossum was the top scorer for Glasgow with 15 points in the game, but freshman Abrianna Nielsen also impressed when she came off the bench and scored 11 points in the final quarter to keep the Lady Scotties in the game and on to the win.

Sibley and Boos shared the spotlight in the boys' game, each scoring 11 points for Glasgow, but it wasn't enough to defeat the Eagles and the Scotties lost 51-47.

The Scotties will host Poplar this Thursday, Jan. 24, then travel to Glendive on Saturday, Jan. 26.
