Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
I know that I do not succeed 100 percent of the time, but I do try to steer clear of religion and politics. However on my way to church the other day memories flashed through my mind.
Do you remember when nothing, school or social events, were scheduled for Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings? Sunday mornings were reserved for church, your choice of course, and on Wednesday evenings most church youth groups met. It could be my failing mind, but it seems that CYO, MYF and Luther League (those were the church groups active in my small town) all had meetings on Wednesday evenings.
That is a memory from the past, along with the type of attire you wore to church. I cannot even imagine the reaction of my grandmother if I had presented myself as ready for Sunday School or church wearing my jeans. Of course, since jeans were not allowed school attire for girls I doubt many of us girls had jeans to wear anyway.
Some things are easy to adjust to and others not. I admit I can still hear admonitions from my female ancestors when I take the easy way out Sunday mornings by donning pants. Life does change and I will admit that my Bucket List really consists of a wish to be able to come back to see what changes in living my great-grandchildren will see.
