Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Lady Scotties had a tough few games last week with losses to the North Country Lady Mavericks on Dec. 14 and the Sidney Lady Eagles on Dec. 15.
While head coach Travis Nielsen wasn't pleased with the final outcome of either game, he was still pleased with the girls' overall performance. "We didn't play to our abilities," he said, explaining that they just need to tap into their potential. "Both games were learning experiences for us."
The well-coached Lady Mavericks were able to prevail over the Lady Scotties 40-35, and Glasgow's frustration was evident as they struggled to defend against their opponents. Kia Wasson led the scoring for North Country with 16 points, followed by Kaitlyn McColly with 14. McColly secured a double-double with her 15 total rebounds during the game.
For Glasgow, Tehya Campbell was the leading scorer with eight points followed by Keely Fossum and Anika Peters with seven points each.
It was a similar story when the Lady Scotties traveled to Sidney on Saturday as the Lady Eagles prevailed over Glasgow, 45-34. It was the first win for the Lady Eagles since the 2016-2017 season. Fossum had a good offensive game as she put a team-high of 17 points on the scoreboard, while the defensive efforts of Campbell and fellow senior Cordelia Nickels were apparent with each of them fouling out of the game.
The Scotties will take on the Glendive Red Devils at home on Thursday, Dec. 20, then will be on the road to Poplar on Saturday, Dec. 22. C-squad games begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
