Bantams Sweep Havre in Two Games

The Bantam Ice Dawgs hosted Havre at the Valley Event Center on Dec. 1. The teams faced off twice during the day, with Glasgow recording two wins over Havre, 4-1 and 10-1.

The first contest began at noon and the visiting Ice Hawks were able to score halfway through the first period. Glasgow was off to a slow start, however, and waited more than 13 minutes into the second period to send one between the pipes. Jackson Bishop put the point on the scoreboard for the Ice Dawgs with the assist going to Michael Hoyer. It was the only goal of the period, and when the whistle blew for the final period, the game was knotted up 1-1.

It didn't take long for Glasgow to make something happen in the third period, though. Just a minute-and-a-half into the third period, Hoyer hit the back of the net unassisted and secured the lead for the Ice Dawgs. Hoyer solidified that lead with two more goals which earned him a natural hat trick in the game. The penalty box was pretty quiet for the home team, with just two infractions recorded during the game. Aiden Wilkowski manned the net and finished the game with 18 saves.

The second game of the day began at 4 p.m. and Glasgow exploded onto the ice, scoring six goals to Havre's one – and only – goal. Tatum Hansen scored first for the Ice Dawgs with two consecutive unassisted goals, followed by an unassisted goal from Colter Barnett. Finishing the six-goal streak were Zevin Kummerfeldt assisted by Barnett, Dylan Hlad assisted by Lex Fairclough, and finally, another unassisted goal from Hansen that earned him a hat trick for the game.

The Ice Hawks amped up their defense a bit in the second period and were able to prevent Glasgow from adding to their score. Their offense, however, was less effective and they remained scoreless for the entire period.

The Ice Dawgs finished the game by scoring four more times in the final period. Peyton Smith sent one into the net unassisted followed by two consecutive goals by Barnett. The final goal of the game was recorded by Hoyer with the assist going to Hansen.

Infractions were minimal in the second contest as well, with just two minor penalties recorded. Wilkowski had few opportunities to defend the net as he was tested with just five shots on goal during the entire game.
