Fort Peck Interpretive Center Fall Hours

Come celebrate National Fossil Day on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Fort Peck Interpretive Center. There are plenty of opportunities to get close to those creatures and their bones from 65 million years ago.

The Fort Peck Interpretive Center remains open in October and November from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In October, the Center is open Tuesday through Sunday. In November, the open days are reduced to Tuesday through Friday. The remainder of the year through mid-April, the Interpretive Center is open by appointment only. Powerhouse tours are also available by appointment confirmed at least 48 hours prior to tour time, so be sure to plan ahead. The Center does have a meeting room that seats 100 if groups need a location central to the region. Call Sue Dalbey at 406-526-3411 x3755 to make arrangements.

The Downstream Campground in Fort Peck closed Oct. 15. Camping is still an option year-round at places like Flat Lake, West End Recreation Area, Duck Creek, Roundhouse Point and Floodplain dispersed camping areas.

The Nature Trail and Downstream Campground will be closed periodically in November to allow people with disabilities to hunt, including Nov. 2-4, 11-18 and 23-25. The area will be signed. Hunters must have a valid hunting license from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks and weapon restrictions are in place. Permission and dates must be attained from the Corps of Engineers at 406-526-3411.
