Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

To the Volunteers of the Glasgow Fire Department

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department, Valley County Long Run Fire Department, Valley County Sheriff’s Office, and Glasgow Police Department for their immediate response in addressing the gas leak on Glasgow’s northside. On Monday, Sept. 3, starting at 11 p.m. ,. four city blocks were evacuated due to the concern of the potential damage the gas leak could have caused to the surrounding homes and residents. This ended around 2 a.m. when the scene was cleared and they determined it was safe for residents to return to their homes.

Fire Chief Brunelle stated that MDU was on the site almost immediately and had a support team arrive from Malta.

We know this type of scenario could have been critical at any time and could have ended differently. Due to their experience and training the outcome was positive for all.

We are blessed to have men and women living in our community who continue to put their lives at risk time after time to ensure our community’s safety.

Sincerely,

Mayor Becky Erickson

Glasgow, Mont.
