Valley View Home Soaks in New Donation from FMDH Foundation

Valley View Home residents now have a more comfortable time getting bathed and employees have a much easier time in transporting the residents into the tub, thanks to a generous donation from the FMDH Foundation.

In June, the FMDH Foundation Board of Directors voted to gift $23,800 to allow Valley View Home the ability to purchase a new bathtub for residents. Valley View Home's Administrator Wes Thompson, Director of Nursing Dana Nixdorf and Restorative Aide/CNA Kelsey Arnold requested help from the Foundation to purchase the bathtub for residents. The whirlpool tub that was in the facility was no longer working properly and obtaining the necessary parts for the upkeep was not an option.

Bathing is essential, not only from a quality of life standpoint, but a medical standpoint as well. After hearing Thompson's and Arnold's reasons for the need of obtaining a new tub at the board meeting, the FMDH Foundation Board voted to gift the entire requested amount. "The purchase of the tub not only will assist current residents, but also residents who will call Valley View home in the future," stated Jon Bengochea, a FMDH Foundation Board member for his reasoning in gifting the requested amount.

The tub is now installed in Valley View and residents can more easily position themselves in the tub, enjoy deeper immersion and aromatherapy while employees can safely and more efficiently place the residents in the tub.

The FMDH Foundation has gifted over $64,000 to students, FMDH, and Valley County needed medical projects. They could not do such great work without the generosity of donors over the years; donating locally benefits everyone and our loved ones at some point. The mission of the FMDH Foundation is to provide financial support to FMDH and other medically needed projects in Valley County, to ensure that the medical services provided are of the highest quality.

An upcoming fundraising event on Oct. 6, at the Busted Knuckle, will have the Foundation team up with local businesses to honor new Coral of Compassion Wall of Honor inductees.
