A fire destroyed a garage at a southside Glasgow residence Wednesday, Aug. 29. The fire erupted at around midday and fire crews responded from the Glasgow Fire Department and Long Run Fire Department with a total of four engines, the command vehicle and 16 firefighters.
According to Fire Chief Brandon Brunelle, the flames were contained mostly to the garage, no other structures were affected by the blaze, and no one was injured. The fire chief also reported that the cause of the fire is unknown.
Brunelle explained that witness accounts and firefighters on the ground suggested that early on a propane bottle may have exploded inside the garage causing the fire to spread as quickly as it did. He also stated that reports of loud popping sounds were likely paint cans and aerosol cans exploding from within the garage.
