Alice Rocks the Glasgow City-County Library With Area Youth at the Queen of Hearts Dance Party

From Fort Peck Theatre for Young Audiences production of Alice's Rockin' Adventures in Wonderland, Alice (played by Tommi Prewett) took a break from rehearsals to read and dance with area children at the Glasgow City-County Library on July 5.

Alice read three books to children and families in attendance all with the theme of dancing as the children looked on in awe and amazement. After the stories were complete, it was time to have a Queen of Hearts dance party.

With the library basement decorated, children chose various props including microphones, sunglasses, blow-up guitars and drums which allowed them to play along with the beat. Dances included the hokey pokey, macarena, freeze dance and "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang got everyone in attendance up and grooving.

As part of the library's summer reading program, this event was one of many activities over the past few weeks to allow children to have fun while also maintaining and increasing their literacy. Other upcoming events at the library include musical duo Jack and Kitty on Thursday, July 12, starting at 10 a.m., and The Kilted Man on Monday, July 16, at 1 p.m.

Alice's Rockin' Adventures in Wonderland will be performed at the Fort Peck Summer Theatre Thursday, July 12, through Sunday, July 15, at 10 a.m. All performances are free and open to the public.
