Following the initial scoring run by the Dodgers in the top of the first inning, McDonald was able to knot things up when he hit a double and sent Brett Glaser across the plate to score Glasgow's first run.
Glasgow lost their grip on the game late in the contest with a tie-breaking run in the fifth inning for Laurel and a scoring surge in the sixth inning that increased the Dodgers lead by four more runs.
Chase Guttenberg took the loss on the mound for the Reds. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing five runs on two hits and striking out one. Price threw 74 pitches in just over four innings and threw 37 strikes to the 19 batters he faced, allowing one run on two hits and striking out two. At the plate, Glasgow scored three runs in the fourth inning with an RBI single from Wersal that brought Legare home, followed by Wersal scoring on a Dodger error and Fossum scoring on a passed ball.
Glasgow scored twice more in the seventh inning, but by then the Dodgers had a commanding lead that couldn't be overcome. Lipszyc doubled on a fly ball to right field which scored McDonald, then made it home himself off a single by Wersal - his second RBI of the game. Wersal went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead the Reds in hits. Wersal also had two stolen bases in the game and Fossum finished with one.
Defensively, Glaser, Guttenberg, Price and Wersal teamed up in the bottom of the first and the bottom of the fourth to execute double plays which shortened up the Dodger's at-bats. McDonald took the loss for the Reds, pitching four and a third innings, allowing eight runs on five hits and striking out one. Aune and JT Sprague provided relief on the mound.
