Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Ms. Denise Winchester's second grade Reading Challenge Group dressed up as American heroes and figures from American history, both past and present, on March 21.
Members of the community were invited to visit the Living History Museum, where 16 second-graders dressed up as famous Americans, including Sally Ride, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, George Washington, Clara Barton, among other distinguished members of history. Not only did these students look the part, but also truly embodied their famous American by reciting information to all who sat down near their station.
In its seventh year, students not only worked hard at learning the American hero they embodied but also had to make sure to dress the part, which wasn't an easy task. The second-graders and their families had to get creative in order to look as realistic as possible.
The museum will be set up in the Irle School cafeteria during the school day starting at 2:45 p.m. through the rest of the week.
Participants include: Gavin Black (Abraham Lincoln), Allison Sigmundstad (Sally Ride), Hank Hopstad (Kobe Bryant), Jack Miller (Michael Jordan), Tristan Johnson (George Washington), Amelia Gilchrist (Clara Barton), Kenee Johnson (Harriet Tubman), Aaron Mickelson (John Adams), Brock Ciafardone (Audie Murphy), Isabelle Jones (Amelia Earhart), Kelbi Wersal (Rosa Parks), Garrett Thompson (Lance Armstrong), Gracie Otten (Annie Sullivan), Bailey Billingsley (Helen Keller), Ian Anderson (Thomas Jefferson) and Emerson Gutow (Abigail Adams).
