Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Bullock Awards Tourism Grant

Missouri River Country Tourism Region of Fort Peck received grant funds in the amount of $28,000 from Governor Bullock on Jan. 19, through the Tourism Grant Program at the Department of Commerce, Office of Tourism and Business Development.

Missouri River Country is Montana’s northeastern tourism region, covering Garfield, McCone, Phillips, Valley, Sheridan, Daniels, Richland and Roosevelt counties as well as the Fort Peck Indian Reservation. The funds are planned to be utilized in order to redesign their website to better promote tourism and recreation in these counties.

The Tourism Grant Program awards funds to projects that strengthen Montana’s economy through the development and enhancement of the state’s tourism and recreation industry. “Visitors from out of state add billions of dollars to Montana’s economy, which directly support our communities, small businesses and people,” said Governor Bullock in a press release. “By investing in our tourism and recreation resources, we will maximize our ability to attract and serve the visitors who drive one of Montana’s leading industries.

In total, Governor Bullock awarded $750,000 in grant funding to develop and enhance tourism and recreation in 27 Montana communities across the state.
