Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
February's Wheatgrass Gallery Artist of the Month, Mary Kate Teske, has been quietly infiltrating the pages of the Courier with her photographs for over a year. Last week's issue featured two of her pictures prominently. It wasn't the first time. Nor is ours the only publication following the 24-year-old's work. Teske and her 1961 Dodge Lancer have graced the pages of The Billings Gazette, Last Best News, Folk Magazine and even the airwaves over at Yellowstone Public Radio.
On Jan. 7, Teske was featured at a gallery show in Terry, Mont., hosted by the Evelyn Cameron Heritage Trust. Pictures from that installation will travel to Glasgow for the month of February, following on the heels of Cathryn Reitler's well-attended December show.
The work on offer features both digital and 35 mm film prints in handmade wooden frames. Subjects include some of Montana's finest scenery (including a massive shot of St. Mary's Lake taken before last summer's fire damage) and various ranchers and cowhands at work in and around Terry, where the artist's family operates a sizable farm along the Yellowstone.
Teske will be present for an open house at the gallery downtown on Friday, Feb. 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
