Wade Nelson / For the Courier count
Mr. Nelson's 8th-grade students built cars and put them to the test during their study of motion on Jan. 12. Each student designed their own car using everyday materials such as rubber bands, cardboard, wood, paperclips, old DVDs and CDs and other unique materials such as used motors and a drill. Students were then ranked based on how far their car went and originality in design. Winners of the contest left to right were Blake Lloyd, Emmalynn Page, Mitchell Winchester and Kate Parks.
