Scotties Defeat Malta, Harlem

Senior Night Slated This Week

What a great finish to the regular season for the Glasgow volleyball team! With tournament time approaching, a big win over Malta on Oct. 12 gave the team some extra confidence. The Scottie's focus and drive shone through as they rocked it both offensively and defensively. An amazing 67 digs (Ziggy Chamberlain 17) kept alive nearly every ball Malta sent over. Coupled with an impressive 37 team kills (Jesi Kennedy 13), creative setting (Rachelle Glaser 33) and aggressive serving (Baylie Chappell 5), that adds up to a very solid and energetic performance by GHS. The Scotties took the match: 25-27, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22.

In addition to a big win, participants in the annual pink night, a fundraiser for Relay for Life, also helped make the evening a financial success. Various fundraisers are expected to bring in around $500, thanks to a very generous community effort.

On Oct. 14., the Scotties traveled to Harlem for what ended up being their final conference win over a scrappy and hard-working Lady Wildcat team (27-25, 25-14, 25-18). With that victory, GHS secured first place in the conference which should benefit them when the district tournament brackets are revealed.

This Thursday, Oct. 19, GHS will be celebrating their seniors at the match vs. Sidney High School. This is also the final home match of the season for a very talented and exciting group of volleyball players. On Saturday, Oct. 21, the girls travel to Glendive for their final match of the season.

Districts will be held in Wolf Point Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28 and divisionals will be held in Malta Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 5-7.
