Helena on the Horizon
The Glasgow cross country team wrapped up their regular season with both the girls and boys winning at Plentywood Oct.14.
With the state competition on the horizon, the Scotties seem to be ready to secure some hardware for the GHS trophy case.
Qualifying for the trip to Helena are: Emily Kolstad, Ali Cunningham, Alaina Sallee, Brooke Westby, Katie Kaiser, Lauren Padden, Mattea Piersak, Alexus Nistler (alternate), Ellis McKean, Ike Braaten, Merlin McKean, Wilson Overby, Jacob Meiers, Colin Jamba, Carl Zabrocki and Kaden Zimmerman (alternate).
In Plentywood, the girls snagged the win with 35 points over Richey/Lambert (62) and Fairview (90).
Emily Kolstad led the pack with her first place finish in 21:08. Also placing in the top seven were Alaina Sallee, 5th, 22:29, and Ali Cunningham, 7th, 22:47. Also competing for the girls: Katie Kaiser, 10th, 23:18; Lauren Padden, 12th, 23:26; Brooke Westby, 13th, 23:26; Mattea Piersak, 19th, 26:35; Alexus Nistler. 23rd, 32:07.
The Scottie boys also had a significant win in Plentywood with a score of 23 points. Richey/Lambert finished with 42 points, Wolf Point with 141 points and Fairview with 159.
Glasgow had four finish in the top seven, with Ellis McKean taking the top spot in 16:43. Ike Braaten finished third with a time of 17:22, Merlin McKean fourth with a time of 17:29, and Jacob Meiers seventh in 18.47.
Filtering in behind the top seven were: Carl Zabrocki. 8th,18:59; Colin Jamba, 11th, 19:26; Kaden Zimmerman, 14th, 19:31; Colton Pewitt, 18th, 20:10; Tanner Overby, 24th, 20:47; Jaysen Turner, 26th, 21:16; Jordan Billingsley. 45th, 26:12.
The Scotties will travel to Helena for the state meet Saturday, Oct. 21.
