Lonnie James Moran, 68, from Orem, Utah, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born in Browning, Mont., on Feb. 2, 1949, to Roger John Moran and Imelda Marie (Johnson) Moran. The family moved to Glasgow, Mont., where he grew up and attended St. Raphael's Catholic School. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1968.
He was a US Army veteran who served in Vietnam from 1970-71. After returning, he worked at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver, Colo. He then transferred to the Tooele Army Depot in 1977, retiring from the Arsenal in 2007.
He married Vicky Kay Camp on Sept. 2, 1978. They have two beautiful daughters.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved taking family and friends camping, hunting and fishing every chance he got. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish. Some of his favorite hobbies were woodworking, mining for sapphires and Dutch oven cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his youngest sister, Rebecca Joan Moran.
Survivors include his wife,Vicky Kay; two daughters. Lacey Joan Moran and Jessie Kay Burbank and her husband, Blake; three grandchildren, Teganne Rei, Jackson Blake and Oliver James Burbank; five siblings, Roger Moran, Linda Ritten and her husband, Dan, Glenda Gaddes and her husband, Rick, Mary Shipp and her husband, Lawrence, Kathy Hoffman and her husband, Ken; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Friday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem. Family and friends visited from 12 to 1 p.m. Burial was in Orem City Cemetery with Military Rites. Condolences may be offered to the family online at WalkerSanderson.com.
