Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Scotties suffered a huge 54-0 loss in a recent pickup game against Whitehall. The game, which was held at Naranche Stadium in Butte on Sept. 1, was scheduled following the demise of Poplar's football program for the season.
Glasgow's head coach, Greg Liebelt said of the disappointing loss, "We looked and played like a younger, inexperienced team - with seven new starters - playing our first game against a veteran semifinal team from last season with eight returning starters, without a doubt."
Liebelt also noted that it's difficult to compete against any team with the number of turnovers Glasgow gave up during the game, let alone against a strong team like Whitehall.
Moving forward with their goal of winning the conference in mind, Liebelt noted, "It's critical that we keep the Whitehall game in perspective," he said. "It was only our first game of the season with a new corp of starters, non-conference, and it provided a lot of valuable information we needed concerning what we need to focus on to be competitive with the talented players we do have."
The Scotties will be in Harlem Thursday, Sept. 7, and will host Colstrip in their first home game of the season on Saturday, Sept. 9. Liebelt said the team will be able to take away quite a few things from Friday's game that will help them be more competitive as they prepare for their upcoming games.
