Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Valley View's own Robert "Bob" Schumacher is turning 100 years old on Aug. 2. He was born in 1917 in Wisconsin, and has seen many things throughout his life. His time in Wisconsin taught him a love of fishing, especially for catfish. He loves to share stories of his many fishing trips and the various fish he has caught.
Schumacher is a veteran, serving in the Navy and was a part of the Navy Seabees. He also served his country in World War II. He is a self-proclaimed "Proud American" and states serving his country as one of his proudest moments.
During his life, he traveled to Alaska and spent much time working there. One of his favorite memories are of two squirrels he cared for and sadly had to leave behind. He often reminisces how cold it can be in Alaska. He made his way to our neck of the woods by taking work in Wolf Point.
He developed a love of music and is able to play all the string instruments. He has played with many area bands over the years. He enjoys going downtown nearly every day to enjoy a misty dew and the companionship of friends at local establishments, Stockman Bar and Nickel Wades.
His key to longevity has been to avoid drinking water or maybe it's the Canadian Mist. He is certainly full of stories from his personal adventures over the past 100 years.
