Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Denise Lucy Fuhrmann

Denise Lucy Fuhrmann, 75, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017, from complications after suffering brain seizures at St. Vincent Medical Center in Billings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 25, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Glasgow, with Pastor Herb Sand officiating, followed by burial at the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1941, in Glasgow, Mont., to Joseph Birkoski and Jennie Sobolewski. She worked for many years in the health care field, first as a Certified Nurse's Aide at Valley View Home, and later at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital.

She married Terry Fuhrmann on June 6, 1970. They raised five children on his farm in the north country before moving to Glasgow. In 1986, she and Terry started the Hi-Hat Drive Inn, along with their oldest daughter, Tammi. They successfully ran the restaurant for seven years. She maintained her CNA job at the same time, and worked in that field for several years before her retirement in 2002. In 2003, she and Terry moved to Saint Marie where they planted flowers, a garden, and fished the Milk River for catfish every chance they had.

She loved many things, but most of all, she loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, and she was always willing to talk or lend an ear when it was needed most. She always made time for them and tried to help in any way she could. She loved gardening, fishing, and watching Walker: Texas Ranger with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Fuhrmann, after 46 years of marriage; and her daughter, Brenda.

Survivors include her only surviving sibling, Rosalie Winters of Chicago, Ill. and five children, Larry, Duane, Tammi, Bonnie and Terry Jr.

She was a caring and nurturing mother, a true friend, and an inspiration to those who were around her. She was always willing to help out, and never judged anyone by their shortcomings. She is once again reunited with her loving husband, Terry. Denise Lucy Fuhrmann will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
