Ernest Leo Kummerfeldt

Ernest Leo Kummerfeldt, 95, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, in Mesa, Ariz. Per his request, he was cremated and there were no services held.

He was born to William and Ossie Kummerfeldt on April 9, 1922. He married Bernice Buen on April 15, 1942, in Fort Peck, and they spent the majority of their lives being dryland wheat farmers 25 miles north of Nashua.

After retiring, he and Bernice enjoyed living in the warmth of the Mesa area. They enjoyed traveling overseas and many trips in the U.S. Many of their trips were by motor home, often accompanied by several friends in their motor homes. They belonged to the Good Sam Club and the Elks Club. He also served a term in the House of Representatives in Helena from 1972-1974.

He has spent four years missing his sweetheart who passed away in 2013. Also proceeded in death is their son, Alan, and four grandchildren, Martin, Kristen and Kyla Blatter and Scott Kirkland.

Survivors include three children, Jerry Kummerfeldt of Seattle, Wash., Angie Blatter of Corvallis, Mont., and Sharon Kummerfeldt of Mesa; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
