Huntley Breaks Scottie Streak in Messy Contest

Day Two: Glasgow Sweeps Opponents

Following a home game against Glendive April 25, the Lady Scotties traveled to Great Falls for a two-day tournament April 28 and 29.

Although the girls got off to a slow start against Glendive, they pulled it together for the 5-1 victory in seven innings. Both teams battled to gain ground against the other, but the game remained scoreless for four full innings. The Red Devils were finally able to bring in one run at the top of the fifth, but the Scotties replied with two runs and snuffed Glendive's effort.

Unable to penetrate the Scottie defense, the Red Devils had another scoreless inning in the sixth and opened the door for Glasgow to extend their lead with three more runs. Following another unsuccessful at bat for Glendive, the contest came to an end with Glasgow on top 5-1.

The Scotties' four-game series in Great Falls began with a contest against Great Falls Central on Friday morning followed by a match-up against Huntley Project in the afternoon. Field conditions were wretched, to say the least. The skies opened up off-and-on throughout the day, throwing a mixture of snow, rain and hail at the athletes and fans, prompting more than one delay. Home plate was unrecognizable, the umpires were fatigued, and the girls were covered in mud.

The players made the best of things, however, and persevered through the muck.

The Lady Scotties grabbed their first win of the weekend in their game against GFCC, then were handed their first loss of the season when they played Huntley Project. The Scotties had 16 runs off 15 hits against the GFCC Mustangs to earn the win with Krumwiede and Chamberlain recording a home run each. In the game against H.P., the girls brought in 11 runs off 15 hits, but fell just short of a victory.

Following the disappointing loss against H.P., the Lady Scotties returned to the diamond with determination on Saturday. They showed no mercy as they blanked both Conrad and Cut Bank in a two-game sweep to finish the tournament.

In the contest against the Conrad Cowboys, Glasgow accomplished the 15-run rule with just two at-bats. The Scotties brought in 16 runs off 10 hits and the game came to an end after just two-and-a-half innings. Khloe Krumwiede punctuated the win with a grand slam, and Teagan Fossum contributed with her first home run of the season. It was another slugfest against the Lady Wolves from Cut Bank as Glasgow brought in 14 runs off 12 hits, with Chamberlain and Myrick contributing with a home run each.
