Records Fall at Porcupine Invitational

The Nashua Porcupines hosted 14 teams at their track meet in Glasgow on April 8. It was a productive day for Valley County athletes, with several qualifying for state and three separate school records falling.

Boys high-point scorer was Riley Linder of Scobey with 38 points. Three girls shared the high point crown with 30 points each: Nashua's Taylor Laumeyer, Kinley Peterson of Westby/Grenora and Mackenzie Dethman of Froid/Medicine Lake.

For the second meet in a row, Laumeyer broke a school record and qualified for state in one of her events. At the Glasgow Invitational, she broke the school record and qualified for the state meet in the girls javelin. This week, she repeated those achievements in the girls discus with her 110-10 throw.

For the Scotties, senior Leinie Hughes hit her state-qualifying mark with her shot put of 35-07.00.

The Bearcubs had two record-breaking performances. Junior Jayson Jackson claimed the school record in the discus with his 125-03 throw, and powerhouse Dallas Reese made his mark with a record-breaking 51-06.00 shot put. Reese will also be representing the Bearcubs at the state meet.
