Janice Ailene (Miller) Catt, 79, died peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017, at Peace Health St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.
She was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Glasgow, Mont., the daughter of Julian and Evelyn Miller. She spent her childhood in Glasgow and met and married Gary Arlen Catt, Sr. from Fort Peck, Mont. They had four children while living in Glasgow and then moved to Vancouver, Wash., where they had their fifth child.
She graduated an honor student and a Scottie from Glasgow High School in 1955, and went on to receive a B.A. from Clark College in Vancouver. She was an active member in the community and was a member of The Elegance Club (former Girl Scout Leaders) as well as the Arthritis Support Group. She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church.
Family and friends were her passion and delight. She was a devoted grandparent to her five, loving grandchildren and spent as much time as possible with them. She loved photography and the art of capturing beautiful things and people.
She was preceded in death by Gary Catt, Sr .; one sister, Joyce Solomon; one daughter, Debra Catt; and one son, Steven Catt.
Survivors include her brother, Richard Miller; two half-brothers, John Wood and Leeroy Wood; two half-sisters, Florence Carroll and Jean Marie Wood; three children, Laurie Walker, Gary Catt and Linda Malmstadt; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and close friends.
A service was held Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church at 401 E. 33rd St., Vancouver, WA 98663.
