Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Jordan Thompson Johnson, Glasgow native and Glasgow High School junior, recently enlisted in the Montana Army National Guard on Dec. 20. Johnson will serve as a Military Police (MP or 31B) in the local 484th Military Police Company (Combat Support), Detachment 1 stationed in Glasgow, Mont. Johnson is the fourth GHS student to enlist in the National Guard in the last two years, in a show of service to Montana from the Scotties.
Johnson has been active in athletics as a football manager, a wrestling manager and as a softball player for the Scotties. In the future, she hopes to study criminal justice in college and work in the law enforcement community. Johnson hopes her role as a MP in the Guard will give her experience to pursue her goal more directly.
When asked why she enlisted Johnson's explanation took on a life of thoughtfulness for her family, "When I made the decision to enlist, I did so because I wanted to go to college. I am the oldest of three children. This will help my mother and father pay for my college." Johnson added that she hopes the Guard will serve her well in college and in her life saying, " The National Guard gives me the mindset and the skill set to work towards goals in my future."
Johnson will attend Basic Combat Training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO this summer and return for her senior year at GHS before finishing AIT in the fall of 2018. She is looking forward to her future saying, "I want to fight for such a beautiful country that has given me and my loved ones a sense of safety. I look forward to being able to use the skills I will be shown and apply them to my career and everyday life."
