Rivals Fall to Lady Coyotes
The Nashua Porcupines and the Nashua-Opheim Rivals faced the Dodson Coyotes in two home games Dec. 20.
Nashua 48, Dodson 38
Starting the game for the Porcupines were: Dalton Kautz, Gavin Adkins, Chase Williams, Dylan Sanner and Sawyer Sibley. Coming off the bench to contribute were Cassidy Greene and Gunner Greene.
The Nashua boys earned the win, but the game definitely wasn't won at the free throw line. The Porcupines were 7 of 19 at the line, or 37 percent. The Coyotes, however, sunk nearly 60 percent of their attempts at the line.
Scoring for the Porcupines was mostly consistent, with the boys scoring in the double digits for three out of the four quarters. Dodson was less consistent, with just mediocre performances in the first and third quarters.
The top scorer for Nashua was Sanner with 20, followed by Williams with 12.
Dodson 34, Nashua-Opheim 20
Although the Rivals out-scored the Lady Coyotes in the first quarter 10-7, they struggled to maintain the edge and eventually just ran out of gas, falling to Dodson 20-34.
Starting for the Rivals were: Taylor Laumeyer, Shelby Fuhrmann, Haylee Fauth, Grace Carroll and Kaydin Sibley, with each rostered player getting time on the floor during the contest. Like the Nashua boys, the girls struggled quite a bit at the charity stripe, sinking only 18 percent of their attempts. The Lady Coyotes completed more than half of their attempts.
The top scorer for the Rivals was Fauth with 8, followed by Laumeyer with 6.
The Rivals and Porcupines are scheduled to play Scobey in Nashua Friday, Jan. 13.
