On Dec. 11, someone rammed their vehicle into the Valley Event Center fire escape, tearing it completely loose. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first incident of vandalism at the VEC, according to Tim Volk, as there have been instances of garbage being dumped out, railings torn out which have had to be replaced, and dead animals being thrown on the roof. According to Del Hansen, the big steel building has dents on the side from kids backing into the building. Unfortunately, these acts of vandalism have been escalating, according to Volk, and if this continues the center will have to be barricaded off except for events, which is not something the staff or the community wants. Thanks to the generosity of the community, over $1,000 has been raised for repairs and rewards for information.
If you have any information regarding the vehicle that damaged the fire escape or the other acts of vandalism, please contact the Glasgow Police Department at 406-228-8050. The Valley Event Center is offering a cash reward to anyone who can provide information regarding the recent events.
