Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
The Sidney Invitational wrestling meet held Dec. 2 and 3 was a tough one, with 26 teams from Montana and surrounding states competing in the event.
Wrestling for the Scotties at the varsity level were: Gabe Hallock, Matt Reyling, Kaden Zimmerman, Oden Hallock, Cale Swanson and Tony Kaiser.
While Glasgow placed 21st with 22.5 total points, head coach Jory Casterline was in no way disappointed. “I don't really care about how many points we got or how we placed,” he said. “It was a tough tournament and the boys had some good matches.”
Coming off the tournament, Casterline will be stressing to the team that they will be wrestling for six minutes. “These aren't 30-second matches,” he explained. “They are going to have to be physical and battle for six minutes.”
“We want to leave an impression on these guys,” continued Casterline. “I want six minutes of fury.”
Wrestling at 113, G. Hallock placed seventh, defeating Wyatt Harmer of Hardin by pin in 0:49. On the way to his seventh-place finish, Hallock fell to Jordan Grimm from Post Falls, ID, and lost by decision (6-3) to Levi Cluff from Columbia Falls.
Returning state champion Reyling (126), placed eighth for the Scotties after a loss by decision (7-5) to Trevon McClaanahan of Minot, ND. Reyling won his first match by fall (1:29) over Jackson Collins of Mahomet-Seymour, Ill. Next, Reyling lost by decision (4-2) to Matt McLeod of Post Falls, ID, followed by a 2-1 decision win of his own over Dalton McKenzie of Williston. A fall to Dylan Morgan of Columbia Falls (1:46) sent Reying to the seventh-place match where he was defeated by McClaanahan.
