Valley Event Center Hosts Six Weekend Games Against Bozeman, Havre

Bantams

The bantam Ice Dawgs faced off against the Bozeman bantams Nov. 19 and 20 at the Valley Event Center.

Glasgow 3, Bozeman 11

It took some time for Glasgow to warm up in the first game on Saturday evening, and they allowed Bozeman to score six times before Ike Braaten was able to answer with a goal, assisted by Kristian Price, just minutes before the period came to an end.

The Ice Dawgs were never able to recover from the deficit and continued to lose ground in the second period, with Bozeman earning four more points and Braaten scoring unassisted.

Going into the final period the score was 10-2 in favor of Bozeman. Despite an unassisted goal from Michael Uphues, Glasgow could not muster up the energy needed to close the gap any further. After a mid-period goal from Bozeman, the game fizzled and came to an end with Bozeman on top 11-3.

Earning penalties for the Ice Dawgs were Price and Uphues, who both sat two minutes for interference.

Brayden Hansen minded the net and earned 17 saves.

Glasgow 4, Bozeman 13

The second game against Bozeman for the bantams was much of the same, with Bozeman out-scoring Glasgow 13 goals to four. Braaten sealed up a hat trick early in the game for the Ice Dawgs with three goals in the first two periods, assisted by Trevor Johnson, Price and Gage Siefert.

Uphues scored an unassisted goal in the second period, but it would be the last for Glasgow. Bozeman scored five more times before the game came to an end.

Price earned a hat trick of penalties, sitting in the box twice for interference and once for elbowing. Uphues put some time in as well with two roughing penalties, and Braaten was called for roughing, resulting in a two-minute sit for him.

Hansen was in the net again and finished with 25 saves.

High School

The high school Ice Dawgs met Bozeman on the ice in two games hosted at the Valley Event Center Nov. 19 and 20.

Despite the fact that they won both games against our boys, the visiting team seemed to be wound up from the start, earning several unsportsmanlike penalties including two 10-minute misconduct infractions and finally, a game ejection.

Glasgow 0, Bozeman 9

Saturday's game was a struggle for Glasgow as they were unable to capitalize on any of the power plays and finished the game without a score.

Although they couldn't keep up with the opposition when it came to their 11 penalties, the Ice Dawgs had their share of minutes in the box: Taylor Johnson, two minutes for tripping; Kristian Price, two minutes for checking from behind and a 10-minute misconduct infraction; Bridger Barnett, two minutes for roughing; and Ethan Hartsock, two minutes for elbowing.

Casey Mattfeldt minded the net and finished with 28 saves.

Glasgow 2, Bozeman 6

With a good-nights rest, the Ice Dawgs played a different game Sunday morning. Although they were unable to prevail against Bozeman, they displayed a more effective defense, holding Bozeman to just six goals.

Offensively, Ethan Hartsock and Taylor Padden lit up the Dawgs' scoreboard with an unassisted goal each.

Compared to Bozeman's eight total penalties, Glasgow earned five minor infractions: Britt Fairclough served two minutes for slashing and another two minutes for interference; Hartsock sat two minutes for slashing, Merrick Eliason earned two minutes in the box for a delay of game penalty; and Marshall Bragg was charged with two minutes for roughing.

Mattfeldt was in the net again and denied 65 of Bozeman's 71 shots on goal.

Peewees

The PeeWee Ice Dawgs hosted the Havre Ice Hawks at the Valley Event Center for two games on Nov. 19.

Glasgow defeated Havre in both games, with goalie Aidin Wilkowski earning a shut-out in the first contest.

Glasgow 15, Havre 0

In the first game, which started at 10 a.m. on Saturday, it was all Glasgow – in scoring and penalties. Colter Barnett skated away with eight goals and one assist. Tatum Hansen finished with three goals and two assists. Trevor Dulaney found the back of the net twice and earned as many assists. Zevin Kummerfeldt and Michael Hoyer scored the last two goals of the game, with Hoyer also claiming three assists. Dylan Hlad, Emma Whitmer, and Jackson Bishop all finished the game with an assist each.

Earning some time in the penalty box were: Lex Fairclough, who served two-minute penalties for interference and tripping, and Dulaney, who sat two minutes for a minor unsportsmanlike conduct.

Wilkowski earned seven saves in the shut-out and Glasgow finished on top, 15-0.

Glasgow 13, Havre 3

It was more of the same in the second game against Havre, with Barnett finding the back of the net six more times and earning another assist. Dulaney, Hansen and Hoyer all scored twice, with Hansen and Hoyer also earning an assist each. Hlad also claimed a goal and two assists for the team.

Bishop earned the most assists, with four total and Kummerfeldt finished with one for the team.

Fairclough stayed out of the penalty box for this contest, with Peyton Smith and Hansen taking their turns instead with Smith earning a two-minute penalty for holding and Hansen sitting two minutes for tripping.

In the net, Wilkowski earned 15 saves off 18 shots on goal.
