Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
Have ya’ seen it? All those Gen Xer’s, Millenials and Dreamers, along with a dubious assortment of disgruntled movie actors on the evening news protesting the election of Donald J. Trump? They had best take a closer look at what they’re saying and thank their lucky stars that this is still a country that allows them the right to vote. Win or Lose. That’s what it’s all about. Your choice doesn’t win. You’re going to leave the country. Your choice wins...you’re gloatful!
Chants of “Not My President” echoed through the streets of Boston, Seattle, Portland, San Fran, Los Angeles, and, surprise, surprise....Berkeley. Kids, you’re wrong. He IS your president like it or not. And you morons who tout “Togetherness”, well what can be less ‘together’ than “Not My President?”
HRC lost the chance to become the first female president. So what? Is it more important to be the first female president or to be someone who is trustworthy and truthful? I pick T and T but it seems those of you who rode into town on a broom behind Hillary don’t really care a whoop if the country is run well just so it’s run by a woman. I’m not saying a woman can’t do the job and do it well. Back off! I’m just sayin’...not that woman.
That said, I’m not pleased with the thought of foul-mouthed, tactless, spoiled, buffoon-ish President-elect Donald Trump sitting behind the desk in the highest office in the land. It worries the hell out of me. Are people going to respect the man and not the office or vice versa? The Donald has all the tact of the proverbial bull in the china shop when it comes to dealing with people he thinks he’s above in class and status. (You and me included).
I’m waiting with high expectancy for the first tete-a-tete (?) between Trump and Russian Premier Putin. They’re both like spoiled children who throw tantrums if they don’t get their way. Trump will listen to no one. At least so far. (We’ll see who can drop the “F” bomb the most in a conversation or does Russia even have an “F” bomb)? Putin can be troublesome as well. Which one wins and if neither one wins do we all lose? Kaboom!
When Trump had his “build a wall” hissy-fit on immigration those on the left heard “let’s toss them ALL out.” What I heard was what I have been telling you all along: give immediate citizenship to those brought into this country illegally as young children by their parents. Those good folks who have defended the United States through their military service, those who ‘serve and protect’ us in the police forces throughout the country, those who have attended schools and colleges and have families and good jobs. They need a clean record to gain citizenship. Toss out the tens of thousands of gangsters and career criminals now incarcerated in our prisons at a cost to you the taxpayer of (at the latest government stat I can find) $48,750 per inmate per year.
The government says those folks are required by law to stay in prison until their sentences are completed. Dumas thinking I think.
I’m of the opinion Trump needs two or five people around who are not afraid of the words “You’re Fired.” Folks who will tell him when to shut the hell up and see that he does. Friends who will make him stick to the script and not go off ad libbing. Seems that always gets him in hot cocoa.
And that’s the way I feel about things. For those of you protesting “Not My President,” I say goodbye. So much for togetherness!
Here’s what I think. It will take Trump a good long while on his quest to “Make America Great Again.” I’ve heard he’s a hard worker who likes to get things done. In fact I’ve heard it said of him that “he can do the work of three men.” I say “yes indeed. Three men. Larry, Curly, Shemp and Moe.” We’ll see.
That’s it for now folks. Thanks for listening.
