North Country vs. Poplar
The North Country Lady Mavericks were undoubtedly worn out before this past weekend came to an end. The co-op squad from Hinsdale, Saco and Whitewater faced three opponents in as many days.
The first of three opponents was the scrappy Lady Indians of Poplar, who had the home court advantage. Although Poplar defeated the Lady Mavs in three consecutive games (25-19, 25-19, 25-14), North Country put up a good fight. Leading the team in both kills (8) and blocks (4), was Hinsdale junior Mickayla Johnson. Casity Boucher finished with 12 of her team's 14 assists. Bailey Funk and Jada Sudbrack shared the top spot for aces in the games with three each, and Sudbrack finished with the most digs for her team (13).
North Country vs. Brockton
After warming up in Poplar, the Lady Mavs faced the Brockton Lady Warriors in Saco Oct. 7. The North Country girls dominated the entire evening and defeated their opponent in three games (25-6, 25-15, 25-11). Johnson again led her team with kills (5), and Sarah Boucher recorded three of her own.
Kayleigh Cummings finished the game with six aces, and Mia Rimoldi had the most assists with five.
North Country vs. Scobey
On Oct. 8, the Lady Mavs hit the road to face their third opponent of the week, the Scobey Spartans. Scobey got off to a good start, winning the first two games; 25-19 and 25-16. The Lady Mavericks answered back with a win of their own in the next game, 25-16. Unfortunately, their success was short-lived and they fell to the Spartans in the fourth and final game, 18-25. Johnson had the most kills with 13. Sudbrack had as many digs and also finished with a team high four aces. C. Boucher led the team in assists with 22 of the team total 24. Sharing the top spot for blocks were C. Boucher, Johnson, and Sudbrack with one each.
The Lady Mavericks will be in Malta Thursday, Oct. 13 with JV games starting at 3:30 p.m.
