Local firefighters Sara Bryan and Butch Heitman gave a tour of the city's fire hall on Oct. 10. Fire departments nationwide urge you to replace smoke alarms after they have passed ten years from the manufacturer's date. Bryan and Heitman also taught the preschoolers what to do if they find themselves in a fire and how to escape safely. Heitman demonstrated what firefighters will look like during an emergency so the children would not be afraid of them in what would undoubtedly be a frightening situation. The children also got to take a look inside of a fire truck and at the conclusion of the field trip got to spray a low pressure fire hose. Pictured (L-R): Bryan holds a fire hose along with Jaxson Wooley, while Timber Smith and Phoenix Schundler watch with big grins. Heitman is seen fielding student questions in the background.
