Valley County Attorney Dylan Jensen filed amended charges against 22-year-old Kain Mitchell Hirsch-Hall in district court on Monday, Aug. 15. Hirsch-Hall has been charged with one count of felony sexual assault and one count of felony sexual intercourse without consent. Initial charges against Hirsch-Hall included three separate counts of sexual crimes against two separate victims, both who were less than 12-years-old at the time of the alleged incidents.
The charge of sexual assault is based on alleged incidents that occurred over a period of time from 2012-2013 when Hirsch-Hall was 18 years-old. The second charge, sexual intercourse without consent, is based on alleged incidents that occurred over a period of time from 2006-2007 when Hirsch-Hall was 12-years-old.
When questioned, Jensen explained that the charges were amended in an effort to keep the proceedings in one court, instead of trying one case in youth court and one case in adult court. A trial date has been set for January 31, 2017.
In other district court news, a 40-year-old Glasgow man is scheduled to be sentenced in district court Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016 for one count of felony incest. Initially, the man was charged with three separate counts of incest, but two of those counts will be dismissed per plea agreement. According to court documents, he faces a minimum of 25 years in prison for the offense. Additionally he may be required to pay full restitution of past and future pecuniary loss to the victim, undergo HIV and/or STD testing, and to register as a sexual offender. The Courier has chosen not to reveal the identity of the man to protect the identity of the victim.
