Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
William D Lund, 82, a longtime resident of East Missoula, Mont., died at home on a beautiful Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born May 12, 1934, the seventh and last child to Hilmer and Anna Lund. His early years were spent on the ranch in Hinsdale, with MANY stories to tell! When he left the ranch life, he hit the road to work construction as an operator from Kansas all the way to the Seattle coast and many places in between.
He was as ornery as he was sweet, generous to a fault and dearly loved!
He loved working construction and would reminisce for hours about the "times" he had on numerous jobs and always had a "tale" to tell. One friend always remembers Bill telling him about the 8-ft. pipe wrench he kept in the trunk of his car,
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Hilmer and Anna; brothers, little Hilmer and Jim Lund; sisters, Junne Johnsrud, Viola Smith and Leora Jones.
Survivors include his little dog, Nic; a brother, Tom Lund and his wife, Betty; a sister-in-law, Joanie; and many nieces and nephews.
A SPECIAL thanks to Stan, Michelle and Nicole along with Rocky Mountain Hospice and our AMAZING nurse, Linda! Bill's final wishes to remain in his home the last few months were only possible because of ALL of you!
Last but not least, when you hear the song, "He Stopped Loving Her Today," think of Bill, as it was his favorite!
Bill's final "Shindig" will be held at his favorite place, The Reno, 3650 E Hwy. 200 East Missoula on Saturday, July 23, at 2 p.m. Please bring a favorite story and potluck dish, as we celebrate one last time a great life! His final resting place will be at the family plot in Hinsdale, at a later date.
"Let Er Rip, Tater Chip."
