Glasgow dominated the game for the first three innings, scoring six unanswered runs. Seyfert began the hitting streak when he hit a double to right field during his first showing at the plate. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Seyfert made it home to score off an RBI single from Legare.

The Reds scored two more runs in the third inning. Wersal took a base after being hit by a pitch, and Glaser made it to first on a Patriots error. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch and were brought home off a single to right field by Sinclair.

The fourth inning began the Patriots' rally as they scored two runs and continued scoring through the seventh inning. It looked bleak for the Reds until the bottom of the seventh when they got their bats going again. Hersom started things off when he made it to first from another Patriots error, followed by a single to left field by Legare. In his turn at bat, Fransen advanced Hersom to third base, but Legare got caught at second and was sent to the dugout.
